Covina, Los Angeles County
Covina was laid out in 1882, and its name is said to have been coined by a young engineer who saw a cove of vineyards sheltered by the hills. The town incorporated in 1901 with the slogan One Mile Square and All There. For a time in the early 1900s it was one of the largest orange shipping points in the world.
